Project Overview

Marina Del Rey Warm Transitional Kitchen Remodel

A warm and sophisticated transitional kitchen remodel in Marina Del Rey anchored by a dramatic oversized island and mixed white and charcoal cabinetry. Full-height backsplash tile creates a seamless, high-end look behind the range, while a custom integrated hood serves as an architectural focal point. Ribbed glass pendants cast warm light over the island, and a champagne bronze faucet adds refined detail. A kitchen designed for both entertaining and everyday elegance.

The Challenge

The existing kitchen felt generic and undersized for the home's potential - especially for homeowners who entertain regularly. The layout, cabinetry, and finishes were dated and disconnected from the rest of the living space. The goal was a kitchen that felt custom, warm, and high-end without appearing overdone.

The Solution

Arterra redesigned the space around an oversized island that anchors both the layout and the aesthetic. Mixed white and charcoal cabinetry adds depth and contrast, while the custom hood, full-height tile, ribbed glass pendants, and champagne bronze hardware give the kitchen a layered, designer feel. Completed in 6 weeks from demo to final walkthrough.

  • Oversized island
  • Mixed white and charcoal cabinetry
  • Full-height backsplash tile

Frequently Asked Questions

How long did this Marina Del Rey kitchen remodel take? +
This project was completed in 6 weeks from demo to final walkthrough. Arterra coordinates design, permitting, and all trades in-house, which keeps the schedule tight and avoids the gaps that come with managing multiple contractors separately.
What is transitional kitchen design? +
Transitional design sits between traditional and contemporary - it takes classic elements like shaker cabinetry and integrated hoods and pairs them with cleaner lines, mixed finishes, and modern materials. The result feels timeless rather than trend-driven, which is why it works so well in Marina Del Rey homes where the goal is elegance without rigidity.
Do kitchen remodels in Marina Del Rey require permits? +
Any project involving electrical, plumbing, or structural changes requires permits through the City of Los Angeles. Arterra manages the full permit process on every project - from plan check submission to final inspection - so homeowners don't need to coordinate with the city themselves.

We hired Arterra for a bathroom remodel last month. They finished in 15 days, 6 days a week. Every guy was very respectful and hard working. They accepted my feedback and handled my requests very well. They sent a crew the very next day to fix anything I flagged. The text thread was very active and made sure everything stayed on schedule.

Highly recommended! From the very first meeting, they were transparent, responsive, and truly committed to delivering high-quality work. Every step of the project was handled with care, and the team was always on time, respectful, and organized. The results are exactly what I hoped for – even better!

I had a fantastic experience with Arterra. I worked with Tom who helped inspect a home we are considering purchasing. He was easy to schedule with, super responsive and knowledgeable, and went above and beyond to walk us through concerns we had. I highly recommend this team’s work!

I wanted a simple accessory unit to give my mom her own space while staying nearby. I had a few builders come out, but Arterra were the only ones who took the time to walk the lot properly and explain what would work. We ended up with a one-bed, one-bath ADU that sits about 25 feet from the main home. The structure was up in less than two weeks after permits, and the finishes followed quickly after. The space is quiet, easy to maintain, and doesn’t feel cramped. The best part is, she loves it. I’d recommend them to anyone.

They have helped us fully remodel our kitchen and dining area, creating more space with no wall that has made it more functional and inviting. Mark guided us through every detail, from cabinets to countertops, and handled all the structural works as per the permit demands. They kept us involved every step of the way and ensured we were satisfied with every choice. We are so happy with our new space.

We didn’t touch the footprint, but the team still made our bathroom feel twice as big. Their design was simple: swap the tub for a full-width shower, move the toilet by two feet, and go with open shelving instead of bulky cabinets. It worked. The lighting is better, and nothing feels cramped anymore. The remodeling crew showed up early and stayed consistent. We loved that they didn’t try to sell us on things we didn’t need. Everything works better now. It was the right kind of remodel; smart and calming.

The roof needed more than just new panels. The rear slope had sagged from years of water pooling. We decided on metal roof replacement and had them reframe the rear section. After they removed the shingles, they rebuilt the slope to match the original pitch and added sheathing and waterproofing. Once the framing was fixed, they installed standing seam metal panels across the roof. Ridge caps, valleys, and drip edges were all upgraded. They also updated all flashing, including around the attic vents. It now looks sharp and feels much sturdier than before. It was done right.
